The old year went out with a bang...or a gurgle. Our water main broke on the 28th. Fortunately, it was the part of the main that the city owns. They were remarkably fast at showing up with a tractor and a dump truck.
The poor guys dug in the cold a five foot deep hole that ended up 2 1/2 feet wide by 4 feet long. They kept pumping out water until they could find the split in the pipe. Fortunately they were able to fix it that day. They will come back to repair our driveway in the Spring.

What a bummer. I haven't been by to see the driveway yet. Hopefully it's not too bad since you have to wait until spring for the full repair.
