Annual Harp Studio Recital

Every March I hold a studio harp recital. I honestly can't remember how many years I have done this for. Originally I scheduled the concerts in March and had a Celtic theme to the music. Over the years, the theme for the annual concert has varied. Each of my students has the opportunity to perform. The venue has always been my parents home. When my parents built this home, they already had many musicians in the family and the home was built to accomodate music. My parents have recently bought a new home. It is time for them to downsize. Once they have finished the basement of their new home, they will put this one on the market. So, this is the last recital at their home.

My sister, Nicole, and I tuning the harps.

The audience. (If you look at the right hand corner,
you can see that Duffy has already crashed out on the floor).

Another angle of the audience. This room currently has the audience, plus an organ and two pianos in it! Normally (when there is not a recital going on) there is a full sized trampoline set up in the middle of the room. I will have to get a picture of that posted soon!

My parents, who have been gracious hosts for many years.

Nicole and I are on the left watching the participants. As I sat with her this year, I had a vision of our future: two gray haired old ladies sitting at a recital commenting on the performances.

Maren performing. This is the first year that she has performed on a
larger harp (the last two years she was on the folk harp).
I can't believe how fast she is growing.
I love teaching. I love all of the students that I get to interact with. I am thrilled by their dedication and that of their parents. To be a music teacher, you really get to have a special relationship with children.

I love the thought of you and Nicole as 2 little gray haired ladies at a concert. I still want to see the trampoline as well.

I love it! I hope you are still teaching when Mylie is old enough... what a fun thing!
